Kenny’s story
I first met Liz from NORCAS about 18 months ago when I moved into Tayfen House in Bury St Edmunds, and I had a big problem with drugs and alcohol. I have had a lot of help over the years from a lot of professional people, but I have always relapsed.
When Liz first started helping me I had been off drugs and alcohol for a long time and my life was going well. But then I moved out of Tayfen House and I wasn’t able to see her any more. I soon ended up back on drink and drugs and back in prison. This year I have been in prison four times and, previous to this time, the longest I was out was for nine days.
I have now been out of prison for around 24 weeks and am back in Tayfen House. Liz is helping me once again. With her help I now feel positive about my life without drink and drugs, which is mostly down to Liz and her hard work. It proves how much she has helped me and how good she is at her job.
I have found Liz to be very approachable at all times and it’s very easy to open up to her and be honest about the situations I get in. I can’t thank her enough. I hope that someone will provide the funding to keep the Hostel In-reach post open as it really helps a lot of people.
